EAGLE PASS, Texas -- A Tom Bowles Detention Center jailer was arrested Friday morning after Police say she struck a car with her vehicle and then assaulted the driver.
According to the police report, Cynthia Venegas, 22, was off-duty and likely intoxicated when this happened.
Police said a blood sample was drawn from Venegas to determine whether she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
At the moment, however, Venegas, who has officially been suspended from her work duties, is being charged with one count of aggravated assult, pending the results of the toxicology report.
Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber announced her suspension Friday afternoon citing a "thorough investigation" will follow to decide her future with the detention center.
