Border Patrol agents arrest man after assault

TEXAS - Border Patrol Agents working in the area of Ysleta, Texas observed an assault this week which led to an arrest of one male subject.

Agents from Ysleta were performing patrol duties in the Lower Valley when they witnessed what was believed to be a vehicle carjacking and assault. Upon seeing Border Patrol Agents, the assailant attempted to flee. Border Patrol Agents sprang reacted by activating their emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield, and proceeded to evade the Agents through the city. Agents contacted the El Paso Police Department (EPPD) and Sheriff’s department for assistance.

Agents continued following the vehicle until the driver eventually yielded voluntarily near Eastlake, along Interstate-10. After further investigation, it was revealed the passenger had been involved in a domestic assault. Agents contacted a Border Patrol Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to evaluate the passenger, but she denied any medical attention. EPPD arrived and arrested a 37-year-old U.S. Citizen, charging him with domestic violence. The victim was placed in the care of the El Paso Police Department. .
