Alleged drunk driver crashes into three EPPD patrol cars

EAGLE PASS, Maverick County, Texas -- Three Eagle Pass Police Department Patrol vehicles were struck by an alleged drunk driver in the early hours of Friday morning. 


According to the Maverick County Sheriff's Office, Pedro Talamantes III, of Eagle Pass, was arrested by sheriff's deputies after Talamantes crashed into three EPPD patrol cars that were on the side of the road on Bibb Avenue where officers were conducting an unrelated traffic stop. He was driving a 1996 Ford pick-up. 


One police officer who was inside his unit was injured as a result of the crash. He was transported to the local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. 


EPPD Public Information Officer Beto Garza confirmed the incident. 


Talamantes was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and reprimanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing, the sheriff's office said.
