Friday, February 23, 2018, 1:45 AM: Eagle Pass Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a white 2011 Camaro pursuant to a traffic violation within the 300 block of North Bibb Street. Officers spoke to the driver of the vehicle who was identified as 21 year old Orlando Cardenas of Eagle Pass. An inquiry on Cardenas personal data revealed four (4) outstanding municipal court warrants totaling $1,285.96. While speaking with officers several signs of intoxication were detected, three (3) standardized field sobriety exams were conducted on Cardenas where he did poorly and along with the outstanding warrants was also arrested for driving while intoxicated. A voluntary breath specimen obtained from Cardenas confirmed the investigating officer’s suspicions of driving while intoxicated as the results were over 0.08 allowed by Texas law. Cardenas was later presented before a magistrate where he was formally charged with driving while intoxicated and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $2,500 bond.
Sunday, February 25, 2018, 12:47 AM: An Eagle Pass Police Officer spoke to two (2) male individuals sitting in a white 2001 Chevy pickup parked within the 2000 block of Roosevelt Street. The two (2) males were identified as 18 year old Juan Francisco Morales and 18 year old Michael Angelo Navejas. The investigating officer obtained consent to search the vehicle after a strong odor of marijuana was detected emanating from the interior of the truck. Upon searching the truck two separate usable amounts of marijuana were located within immediate reach of both occupants. Morales and Navejas informed the officer that the marijuana belonged to both of them at which time they were both placed under arrest. Morales and Navejas were later presented before a magistrate where they each received a $1,250.00 bond after being formally charged with possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces. Both were remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center.
