EAGLE PASS - Four people were hospitalized after a high-speed chase ended in a rollover crash early Monday morning in Eagle Pass.
In a press release, the Eagle Pass Police Department said at about 12:01 AM police responded to a report of an intoxicated pedestrian and assault in a convenience store located on the 2100 block of El Indio Highway.
"Investigating officers were directed to a black in color Dodge Challenger attempting to leave the area and upon attempting to speak with the driver and the occupants, the vehicle fled the scene," the release said.
A high-speed chase followed for several blocks until the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to rollover into an open property adjacent to the railroad tracks on the 600 block of Pierce St.
All three passengers were transported to the local hospital for treatment of "serious injuries", the release said. The front passenger was subsequently flown to a San Antonio hospital due to the severity of the injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, who was ejected in the rollover, was found unconscious behind a house nearby. He was also taken to the local hospital.
The release said criminal charges are pending as the case remains under investigation.
