EAGLE PASS - A 53-year-old man landed behind bars after federal agents said he attempted to cross 29 Clonazepam tablets into the U.S. through an International Bridge.
The incident happened Monday at the CBP Port of Entry located in downtown Eagle Pass.
CBP officers say Javier Menchaca, of Eagle Pass, failed to disclose the possession of the controlled substance and when caught failed to provide a U.S. prescription.
Menchaca was charged with possession of a controlled substance and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center.
Clonazepam, a medication typically prescribed for anxiety and depression, is a schedule IV controlled substance under federal law, as it has a huge potential for recreational use and abuse.
