EAGLE PASS - By the end of Friday’s final performance of “The House on Mango Street” by Sandra Cisneros, over 3,500 students will have watched scenes from the San Antonio writer’s play based on the life experiences of a 14-year-old girl named Esperanza.
The Theater at C.C. Winn High School will present their fall production of “The House on Mango Street” to the general public at 7 p.m. on Thursday night at the EPISD Gonzalez Fine Arts Center at the Student Activity Complex. Tickets are only five dollars and can be purchased from any cast or crew member or at the door on Thursday night.
“The House On Mango Street” features senior Analaura De La Garza in the lead role of Esperanza and the play also features senior Victor Solis, junior Amanda Lee Martin, freshman Ana Lucia Hernandez, senior Aime Villagomez, freshman Emily Hernandez, sophomore Alejandra Zapata, freshman Lauren Morales, senior Marcela Ramirez, sophomore Mark Sada, freshman Mario Martinez, senior Claudia Contreras and fresman Jonathon Reyes.
Directed by Adolfo Flores Jr., who is in his 31st year as an EPISD theater director, “The House on Mango Street” features several scenes from the book by Cisneros, who makes San Antonio her home.
