EAGLE PASS - A man landed behind bars for allegedly lying about his vehicle being stolen, according to Eagle Pass Police.

Norberto Raul Elizondo, 56, surrendered to Police after a municipal judge issued a warrant out for his arrest charging him with insurance fraud

On October, Police responded to an auto theft report outside of Elizondo's home.

Elizondo claimed somebody had stolen his Chevy Tahoe, which was later found wrecked in a ditch in Eagle Pass.

An investigation revealed Elizondo had lent the SUV to his son the night it was crashed.

He later collected insurance for the vehicle.

Elizondo was charged and booked in the municipal jail in lieu of a $1,000 bond.

This is the third case of insurance fraud in Eagle Pass this year, according to the information provided.
